I’ve always been fascinated by wolves. Not simply for their beauty or strength, but for the intelligence and quiet depth behind their eyes. There is something profoundly humbling about looking into the gaze of a wild animal and realizing that an entire life exists beyond anything we will ever truly understand.

The World Behind His Eyes was born from that fascination.

I wanted to capture more than the likeness of a wolf. I wanted to create a moment of connection between two worlds. One where the viewer is invited to look beyond the intricate details of his fur and into the eyes of a creature whose experiences, memories, and understanding of the wilderness are entirely his own.

Surrounded by towering pines, beneath a watchful moon, he emerges from the forest with a gaze that is neither threatening nor submissive. He simply exists, unapologetically wild, belonging to a world that was never ours to possess.

Every detail of this original artwork was created by hand through pyrography, using carefully controlled heat to build the delicate textures, shadows, and depth of the composition. The natural grain, organic shape, and character of the live-edge wood become part of the story itself.

My hope is that this piece inspires more than admiration for the wolf’s beauty. I hope it encourages a moment of reflection on the extraordinary lives unfolding in the natural world, far beyond our sight.
