Hand-burned on a naturally figured cherry burl, this original owl piece highlights the quiet power and intelligence of its subject. The burl’s organic swirls and natural movement were intentionally preserved and worked into the composition, allowing the grain to frame the owl and enhance its watchful presence.
Each line was burned entirely by hand, creating subtle variations in tone and texture that give the piece depth and character. The warm hues of the cherry burl provide a rich contrast to the burn, and will continue to deepen with age, further enriching the artwork over time.
The piece measures approximately 12 inches wide by 9 inches tall at its widest points. As with all burl wood, no two pieces are alike, making this artwork truly one of a kind.
